I'm so sad... The moment I found out about its' existence from a Sting music video I wanted it badly, and thought I was meant to have it when I found one on eBay, but one other person has made this bid go up far too high.
I'm sure a lot of you know what I'm talking about, it has Tintin on it with Snowy next to him who has a bone in his mouth. I'm guessing this sweater was released a fairly long time ago? I'd appreciate any information on it and if it's still possible to get it anywhere. Thanks!

Moderator Note: It sounds like you are talking about the very same jumper modelled by the late, great, Michael Turner in the tribute picture on our home-page…

They used to sell them in the Tintin shop in Covent Garden a long time ago, I think they were hand knitted as they were expensive way back then. I remember seeing a photograph of Victoria Wood wearing one and I instantly wanted one myself but couldn't afford it at the time due to the price of them. Maybe some enterprising soul would consider making them available again ?

I have that very jumper. I am willing to sell for a very good offer. It is pristine. I wore it once for 10 mins (it's too big for me; they came in one size fits all but I'm small).

If you are still interested let me know and I'll email a photo.

Many thanks

I would be interested in that sweater if you still have it.

OK Girls get your knitting needles out and the way you go. Make one for yourselves and maybe you can re create the craze thus encouraging Moulinsart to get them back on the market.

That's a little sexist, surely! ; ) Some men knit too.

Or, more likely, encouraging Moulinsart to sue you for copyright infringement!

I agree with Balthazar - it is as much up to the chaps as the ladies to knit!

I would also say that while we have to be careful about the creation of fan artworks, there were some Tintin knitting patterns issued back in the day, and if I can ever find the details in my notes about them, and establish that they were official, I’ll post them (the details, not the patterns!) here.

^ I actually recently saw those knitting patterns on eBay but while I was thinking about purchasing the Captain Haddock one they had, and hoping I could find someone to knit it for me, it suddenly disappeared. They had a pattern for this very sweater as well.

Well, he hasn't contacted me in awhile so I don't think I'll be getting that sweater after all. I still want it, though, so please keep me in mind!

Also, I'd appreciate it if the topic title of my post were modified a little because I don't think I'm allowed to do it myself.

I am now also interested in three statues I saw in the massive collection belonging to the man I saw in the youtube video posted on the Tintin blog. There were of Tintin, Haddock, and Calculus all sitting down on chairs. I've checked around at various shop around the net and haven't seen them.
