Exhibition: When did 'Au Tibet avec Tintin' open?

I purchased a random pack of postcards from the Tintin shop in London and inside there were three postcards showing panels from Tintin in Tibet. On the back of two of the postcards it is stated they were printed for the exhibition Au Tibet avec Tintin. I've seen online that this exhibition was opened in 1994 but I wanted to double check with someone here. Thanks.

Yes, it opened in Brussels in 1994, with the Dalai Lama in attendance. I saw it a little later in The Netherlands, and it was a very impressive and large-scale exhibition (and I've still got the tee shirt!).

Update: It opened on the 9th June, 1994, and was scheduled to run in the Royal Museum of Art and History until the 14th August that year (it may have been extended, but I don't know if it was).

Thanks for the info Jock. Sounds like it was a good exhibition.
So I can only assume the three postcards I have from the Tintin shop are either reprints or actual spare cards from the exhibition. Would be good if they weren't reprints.

It's entirely possible that they are originals, as the exhibition ran for a period of years - but you have to bear in mind that there are probably tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of them out there, especially if you can still pick them up from the Tintin Shop in a lucky bag, so the question of whether they are "original" or reprint might be hard to judge, and may not really matter.

A nice find though!

Thanks Jock. Do you know exactly how long the exhibition ran for? I certainly understand there must be probably thousands of the cards out there. Tintin.com do a set of 9 Tibet postcards but I can only see a picture of one of the three that I have which is of the monks following Snowy up the mountain.

On the subject of postcards I don't understand why The Tintin Shop in London doesn't sell sets of English book cover postcards?

Looking online they only sell a mixed set of French and English titles. Why don't they buy in sets of book covers in English and separate sets of the French book covers? If one is London one should be able to get all of the book cover postcards in English as a set as well as French in my opinion. Perhaps they want customers to buy as many mixed sets as possible in the hope that the customer will spend more to complete their French titles or English titles.
