I just want to double check, the newer DVDs of the Ellipse-Nelvana Tintin cartoons are available, right?

You’re going to have to specify far better than that, as without knowing what you think the “newer DVDs” are, how will anyone be able to say?

For example, if you’d got the HMV silver box-set, then there have been at least a couple of versions since then. If you possess the last set to come out, then no, there’s been nothing “newer” since then.

So, what DVDs are you thinking of, what features do you require (you stuck English in the title, so I’m guessing you want English audio, but you might mean sub-titles would be good enough), what region are you in (because saying that they are available in R4 might not be what someone in R3 wants), and which is the version that you have that they might be newer than?

With a bit of detail, someone may be able to help you!

I mean the DVD box set with the cover image of a close up of frame 7 of page 5 of "The Black Island" where Tintin is running from the Thompsons after he runs into them at the blacksmith shop(where there trying to get the handcuffs offXD)

I did try to copy and paste the image here, but it wouldn't let me, and I don't know how to link websites

And when I say English I do mean English audio
Hope that clarifies things

Okay, we’re getting there - are those DVDs that you have, and you want to know if there are newer ones, or are they the ones that you want to know if they are out? Until we know what you have, and what you want, we won’t be able to say what is the “newest”, and what it is newer than, I’m afraid.

You also still haven’t mentioned where you are in the world, and whether you need a specific region (something may be out in another region, but it might not be any good to you).

If you could also say who the manufacturer is, when you think they should have been available etc., that would help; otherwise it’s a bit of a guessing game, I’m afraid…

The boxed set I have has the image you speak of on it (it’s dark blue, has Tintin on one side, and Snowy on the other, has ten discs in slim covers, is R2 and released by Anchor Bay), but it is a good few years old now, having been released in 2004, so I don’t think of it as new or newer than something else; it came out after the silver HMV exclusive set, I think, so it’s newer than that, but there have been other releases in other regions since then.

The set I have is the one that has been being talked about in this thread, where the price has being going up and down…

I took a look at that thread and YES! that's the one I'm talking about, I just didn't know how old it was

And to answer you'r other question, I live in the U.S. but I think my DVD player is one that plays all regions, but I'm not 100% positive about that yet

Hope that clarifies things even more

That’s the ticket! So, what would you like to know now?

There are 2 things I'd like to know

1,is it available with the English audio
2,what region is it, I read something about a PAL system, I have no idea what that is and what does it have to do with the DVD's playability

Most, if not all the information is on that Amazon page, but to answer anyway:

doubleT:
1,is it available with the English audio

Yes.

doubleT:
2,what region is it

Region 2

doubleT:
I read something about a PAL system, I have no idea what that is

It’s the system used to broadcast TV in Britain and some other parts of the world; the U.S. uses a system called NTSC.

doubleT:
what does it have to do with the DVD's playability

Some TV sets are compatible with both, but this isn’t always the case. You may be able to play NTSC & PAL video in your computer, but again, this may not be the case for all equipment.
