I have a 1965 first edition Golden Fleece film book (the English version, published by Methuen) that I'm looking to sell. I want to give someone a chance to buy this book from me on this website before I list it on eBay where some non-Tintin fan may buy it. I would rather sell it to a true Tintin fan who wants the book for their own collection.

May I ask Jock123 some advice on how to give out my details on here if someone was interested. I don't want to break any rules.

I won't describe the book until I'm sure that I can potentially sell it through this forum.

Our problem here is that we have no facility for administering transactions or resolving any disputes, so we try and avoid having sales done on the forum.

I would suggest that rather than talking about money here, you ask for any enquiries and offers to be via your e-mail address directly; I'd say set a date, say that you will consider the offers when you see them, and then you will decide the outcome (whether to sell or not).

Once that is in place, no posts will be accepted about this in the thread, other than from yourself stating whether the sale has completed, or if you have decided to take it elsewhere. How does that sound?

Hello Jock. Yes, that all sounds fine. I understand this isn't eBay or any other auction site. I would like to sell privately and deal with any enquiries via my email. I wasn't sure if I could post my email address on this forum so I didn't wish to break any site rules by doing so in my initial post.

I have a price in mind for the book but I am open to offers.

I live in London (UK) and I am happy to post the book within the UK and also internationally. Posting costs can be provided and the posting cost will include tracking.

The end date for all offers is the 14th of November. Any offers must be emailed to me by that date. I will then decide the best offer and sell to that person. If I have no offers by that date I will consider extending the time limit or perhaps sell the book elsewhere.

I will only accept PayPal as a payment method for overseas buyers (Non UK)

I will leave the sale of this book open for people visiting these forums for a few days more. I will then place the book on eBay. When it goes on eBay I will provide a link to the eBay page so people know where to look.

The Tintin and the Golden Fleece book will be listed on eBay in a day maybe a couple of days time. Once listed I will place a link on this thread. I did have a response and I was and still am very grateful to the one person who contacted me with their enquiries and I'm also grateful for their on going communication.

The book didn't sell on eBay so it's still up for sale if anybody is interested. It may sell quickly to a potential buyer that I'm already in contact with so if anybody wants to make me an offer for the Golden Fleece book they might have to be quick.
