"Unicorn" Movie: Tintin - GQ style icon!

GQ Magazine - motto, "Look sharp – live smart!" – has just added an article on how to give your wardrobe the Tintin "look".

Evidently, if you wore the items which they have chosen, you wouldn’t be very likely to be mistaken for the Boy Reporter (they've gone for regular trousers rather than plus-fours for a start), but I suppose that's for safety's sake: it would be a shame to be out, promenading innocently in your new togs, only to then be shot by an assassin, bundled into a packing case by kidnappers, or hit with a dart from a passing fakir... Best to err on the side of caution, and not be too close in appearance!

A guy like me would never be mistaken for Tintin no matter if I wore plus-fours or not.
I'm too ... hmm ... robust, old, worn, unpolite, not a boy-scout like, lazy, angry, yoga-hater, anti-traveller but I like dogs. I would become a good Bianca lookalike.

Maybe, but my word, look at the cost. $2,000 (£1,276/ $1,532)??? I am sure I would be able to find something for at least a 20th of that cost. In fact if there are no objections, may I be permitted to do so?

That's a lot of money for clothes that have only a passing resemblance to Tintin's clothing. Maybe they're fashionable but you're right, Harry. What a joke!

I have found two pictures that show Tintin in what I call "casual" (blue jersey) and "professional" wearing a trenchcoat. I will create two sets of prices for both. The first will be done via online shops, the second via charity shops / physical shops. However, I would like to know if I may link the items that I find to create our virtual Tintin and then compare the items to the actual image, is that possible?

Casual Tintin
Brown Crinkled Brogues - £36
Corduroy Men's Plus Four Golf Trousers - £50 (with free long socks in White)
Southbay Mock Insert Sweater - £13
Easy Care Classic Collar Plain Shirt - £12
Sekonda Gentlemen's Strap Watch 3625 - £17

Total: £128 ($200, €183)

In our local town (Aberaeron) whilst the shoe shop was closed, the local charity shop was and they had two of these items, a white shirt for £3 and a navy jumper for £3, however they had never seen a set of plus-four trousers in the five years they have been open.

Update: The shoe shop was open today. They've never heard of, or seen, a slip-on brogue but did show me a brown brogue (exactly the same colour as in the albums); however the cost was £125 ($195, €180) which would bring the total from local stockists to a figure comparable to going to the online store. I will have a look for the professional clothes tomorrow.
