I remember in primary school years ago reading Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon they were both combined in one 1 blue covered paperback book.

I've now collected all the adventures, but have never heard of it since.

Does anyone know of it?

Yes, it was called Tintin's Moon Adventure, and was simply an omnibus edition of the two Moon books which was made available in the Eighties, and published by Methuen under the Magnet imprint.

Other than a different cover, it was the same as the separate volumes, and contained no new or extra material (unlike the hard-backed Making of which came out for the same stories).

The Tintin's Moon Adventure cover was made up of the blueprints for Calculus's rocket, taken from Destination Moon, overlaid with a circle showing Tintin, Snowy, Haddock and Calculus, walking across the surface of the Moon in their space-suits, with the rocket in the distance. This part of the artwork was taken from a cartoon Hergé had done for the Apollo astronauts, which showed the Belgian team welcoming "Mr. Armstrong" to the Moon, as he stepped from Eagle, the Apollo XI lunar module.

It's not too rare, and you can find second-hand copies about, on places such as eBay or Amazon (where you can also see the cover)[/url].

There was also a colouring book with exactly the same name. It's easy to distinguish, as it's a mostly orange colour, with black and white outline figures of Tintin and Snowy on the front.

Thanks a lot; hey, it had bugged me for so so long, and memories flooded back when I finally found an image on Amazon. I'm going to need a valuation on some other books, but it's pending at the moment. Hopefully you can help.

Thanks again.

I have just purchased, completely on a whim, a Tintin book I had never seen before.

It is a combination of the two Moon adventures. The cover is blue with what might be described as a blue-print of the moon rocket on which a circle is placed. Inside are the obvious characters walking on the moon. Description over!

Has anyone any knowledge of this book. Published by Magnet, 1975. I'm just surprised I haven't come across it on my never ending eBay scouring for Tintin stuff.

Moderator Note: Welcome to the forums! Hopefully your questions will be answered in this thread to which your message has been moved; as for the whimsical purchase of Tintin items on eBay, well you probably aren't alone in that!

I don't think it's worth much - you see quite a few copies of it floating around on the internet on various sites. In fact this is how I always read the Moon Adventures because I actually don't have (and have never had) the two separate books.
