The Blue Lotus: Information selling a glass tray by Axis?

Hi there!
New to this site and apologies that this isn't related to the copy mentioned but am trying to follow admin instructions.

I have a glass and black wood Tintin tray that was given to me, and has been in my garage for 23 years. I believe the image is from The Blue Lotus, as the only other version I can see was sold via auction I think.

My query would be where is the best place to sell it?

I am clearing out my house and 'clutter' for a more serene existence. ☺️

I would post a picture but not sure how, but there is a link to a similar one sold at auction here.

Moderator Note: Welcome to the forums, Novice! Thank you for taking the time to try and follow the rules, it is much appreciated! :-) To make your query even easier to find, we have moved it to its own thread here! We also changed the link you included to a similar sale item on a different site, as the new one doesn't seem to require you to sign up to see the image.

Oh, that's rather lovely isn't it? I'm guessing that if it's been in your garage for 23 years, then it's not exactly to your taste, but I am sure that you will find someone who would like to have it, and judging by the auction site with the photo, it's going to be worth alittle bit of money.

Axis is a very good make for collectors, the image is a good one (very appropriate for a tea tray!), from a popular book, regarded by many as a masterpiece of the series, so it's a strong item.

What I don't know is where you are: it would be easy to tell you where to take it if you were in Belgium or Paris, and I could make similar suggestions if you were in the UK, but as I don't have your location, I am a lttle less sure how to proceed.

The best option could be taking it to an auction house. In Belgium or France there are auctions dedicated to Tintin and the workd of Hergé, as well as regular sales of comics-related art and artifacts, so I would recommend going to one of them. In the UK there are large international sales rooms such as Sothebys and Bonhams, and large regional auction houses that could promote such a piece well. I'm pretty sure that the situation would be the same in any large European country, where Tintin is very well known, and the same for places like Canada and even Japan.

If Tintin is not so well known where you are, that might not be so effective.

Tintin is known in New Zealand and Australia, but I know from past discussions that the cost of shipping things - especially something relatively heavy and fragile - can make for problems.

We don't offer a sales service ourselves, as we can't have any control over how a sale is conducted, but we are not against people making contact to arrange a sale off-site, so that might be another avenue for you to consider?

So, if you could perhaps let us know where you are, then perhaps we can help you further!

Hi there! How lovely of you to respond. I'm in the North West of England, UK.

Yes, it isn't to my taste, I mean I appreciate Tintin but don't believe in hanging on to things anymore, and there are people out there who would really love it.

Am in the UK and not looking to make bank. Just get it to someone who'll cherish it. ☺️
